Day 1 – Traveling to Lisbon, Portugal
Today was fun, but I was exhausted at the end of the day. Today went like a typical day in summer. I was on my iPad and having snacks. In the afternoon, around 1:45, we started the car ride to the airport. The car ride was 1 hour and 30 minutes long.
Once we got to the airport, we walked around, following our flight number through the building. Then we got to the waiting room and waited a long time for our flight number to be called. Once it was called, we slowly got on board. Since it would be about a 6-hour flight and the plane would mostly fly at night, there was a blanket on each chair. In addition, earbuds were connected to the plane’s mini TVs, allowing me to watch movies, play games like Yahtzee and Uno, watch shows, and more. I was also served dinner with chocolate mousse as dessert.
Once that flight was over, we were in Dublin, Ireland. We went to the waiting room. Then we got quick snacks and ate them since our flight wasn’t until way later. Then, we walked back to the waiting room and ate more snacks. Later, still before the second flight, we went to get toasties (grilled cheese).
The second flight was a flight where I could finally go to sleep. I slept for three hours, woke up, and got off the plane. That plane had no mini TV, which was kind of disappointing for me. After that, we took a metro (subway) to the bus stop, and then we took the bus twenty-two stops to our stop. We walked for about 4 minutes and finally got to our Airbnb.
We took a break in the Airbnb, then went outside to look around for a place to get food. The place had a lot of seafood and foods you wouldn’t find in Massachusetts on its menu. For dessert, I once again got chocolate mousse.
After we ate, we decided to look around Lisbon, find a bakery, and look at some shops. Then, we found a view of the water. After a while of searching and exploring, we went back to the Airbnb. Today was fun but tiring, but I think I’m going to enjoy the rest of my Europe trip!
