Night on the Town…
Kendra and I went out tonight! In exchange for a sushi dinner, my dear brother came over and watched Addison so we could go to a Girlyman show at the Driftwood Cafe in Plymouth. Though I am not a huge fan (I like the music, but I am not a Girlystalker, like our friend Meg), I was excited for the opportunity to kick back, drink coffee, and listen to some good music. The bonus was getting to see Coyote Grace, a group I’d never heard of before tonight. I liked their music a lot – there’s something about songs that include banjos and violins that speaks to me. Maybe that’s why Kendra and I get along so well… I have an appreciation for her southern, country roots.
The venue was great – small enough to actually see the musicians, and relaxed enough to actually enjoy the music. To dovetail off my last post, it was also really nice to listen to gay music. Most of the stuff I listen to on the radio doesn’t reflect my life – but tonight, I got to listen to girls sing about being in love with girls.
I couldn’t help but snag a bit of video of the two groups performing one of my all-time favorite songs…

On the way home, we stopped to take a peek at Plymouth Rock. Though she’s been up north for over 10 years, Kendra still has so much to see! I tried to warn her it wasn’t much to look at, but it was fun to pull over, jump out of the car, and take a quick look. We ended up scooting back to the car quickly because there were unseen folks hanging near the rock, giggling at our silly antics.
Overall, a fun night – even though we missed Addison, it was nice to have a grown-up night out. And Ronnie did just fine putting her to bed 🙂 All is well in the world.
Thanks so much for your kind words about our music series! I’m so happy that you were able to attend the Girlyman and Coyote Grace show (Girlygrace? Coyoteman?) and that you had a nice experience. I hope that you’ll come to another, and please stop by to introduce yourself!
