Day 4 – Portland to Seattle
Today was a travel day. Up early and out of the hotel, we headed to Union Station in downtown Portland. It was gorgeous. Train travel is my absolute favorite, and I love seeing the different stations every time we go somewhere new. We had a bit of a wait and then boarded the 3-hour train ride.
Once we got to Seattle, Kendra guided us to the hotel, which was right next to Lumen Field and the Qatar vs. Bosnia and Herzegovina World Cup match. The roar as a goal was scored was deafening. And electrifying. And the energy outside of the stadium was infectious.
After checking our bags at the hotel, we headed across the street to a local sports bar for lunch and some World Cup viewing. By the time lunch was over, we had tickets to the Friday night World Cup match between Iran and Egypt. When in Rome, right?
We split after lunch: Addie did work for her math class she is taking online for college credit; I napped and lifted in the hotel gym; and Kendra and the twins made good use of the pool on the hotel roof. Everyone was tired from traveling, Kendra was exhausted from being in charge of all the Lowell High School kids, and Addison from competing. By 6:30pm Kate was passed out for the night, and Addison was too tired to go to dinner, so I stayed with them while Kendra and Evan had a nice dinner and walk. Tomorrow we explore Seattle!
