Day 10 – Hiking Mt. Patscherkofel in the Austrian Alps
I started off the day by waking up to my sister’s very loud alarm at around 7:00 am. Then, I got ready for the big hike up Mt. Patscherkofel (my moms did this hike ages ago). My family had two different rooms we’re staying in for this one hotel, so we met up in the main lobby. We had to take a bus and a train, as well as a ski lift to our hiking trail. We ended up getting on the wrong bus, though, so we had to take a train back to the bus stop, then finally go on our planned route to the Alps. The ski lift was really spooky but fun to go up the side of the mountain on!
Finally, we started our 4.5+ mile hike by meeting some cows up close, and I took some videos and pictures of the scenery and cows FOR THE CONTENT!! There were many types of mushrooms, trees, and flowers along the path. There was tons of heather that would give me hives if I touched it, so I couldn’t even get near it! Nature was actually taunting me with big fields of purple death that I wanted to jump in, but couldn’t. (Rude.)
After a while and tons of beautiful views, I stopped to have a snack, then trudged up the steep side of the mountain with my noodle legs to a hut for lunch.
After lunch, (which consisted of soup with noodles and a bottle of sprite,) I put on my headphones to read and listen to music on the way back down, which was much easier and so, so much faster. We went past another hut on our way down, and decided to stop there for a dessert. I got apple strudel with vanilla ice cream!
Before I knew it, we were back to the ski lift and on our way back to the motel. When we got there, I just, like a normal iPhone kid, doom scrolled for a couple hours. (I’ll save you the trouble by NOT describing each YouTube short in detail.) For the rest of the day, I stayed up late talking to Addie and annoying Mom, and then finally went to bed.
