Day 5 – Vienna to Salzburg

I slept in and got up at 9am to find that my Mamafer, and Addie, and Evan all left me for breakfast. The betrayal. Mom took me downstairs to meet them, and I ate two croissants and a pancake with strawberry jam.

After we went and packed to take the train Salzburg. Before we left for Salzburg, we walked to the Vienna Museum of Natural History. We saw crystals, and dinosaur fossils, and meteorites. I saw lots of tourmaline, citron, fluorite, and different kinds of quartz. There was one dinosaur animatronic and could roar, and bite my head off. It was very awesome sauce.

We went to the train station and stopped at McDonald’s for lunch because we wanted to try menu items they don’t have at home. I got a Capri Sun and a large fry with grimace sauce and sweet & sour sauce. We took it with us to eat on the train.

The train ride was three hours long, so I ate my french fries, I ate my book, and played Gin Rummy with mother. I looked at the scenery – it was very plant-y, and mountain-y, and I saw cool water that was light blue and had a lot of minerals in it.

When we got to Salzburg we walked to the hotel. It was pouring rain. Outside our hotel kids were racing plastic balls down a fountain stream that ran along the middle of the downhill road.

For dinner we went to a fancy place (Johannes Keller) and we ate outside in the backyard of a church. While waiting for the food, I drew in my sketchbook, Evan and Mamafer made paper boats to race in the fountain stream, and Mommy, Addie, and Mamafer played Gun Rummy. I got spätzle with cheese and bacon, which I didn’t really like all that much, but it was okay because our waiter brought cranberry and apricot crepes for me, and Austrian schnapps for my moms.

After dinner Mama and Evan raced their boats, and Evan won all three times! By then I was so tired, I went back to the hotel, and listened to my book and sketched until I fell asleep.
