Cobh, Ireland – Day 14

Today was a pretty chill day. We started off by eating breakfast at the Airbnb. I ate scrambled eggs with half a baguette and made it into an egg and baguette sandwich. Next, we got into the car and drove out 40 minutes to Cobh, Ireland.

Our first stop was the church, St. Colman’s Cathedral. The architecture was very pretty. We donated 50 cents, and I lit a candle. Defo recommendo.

Next, we walked into the town center and got snacks at Cuppacity Coffee. I got a milkshake, and the posters of the milkshakes made them look small, but it was a giant glass. I finished about one-sixth of it.

Then we went to get tickets at the Titanic Museum. Our tour was at 12:30, so while we waited, we went shopping. I went with V-Money, Addie Baddie, and Mondra. We saw very cool things – in one store, there were different types of Venus Flytraps. One kind has very sticky leaves, and the flies eventually die because they can’t get nutrients. Another is like a sack, and the nectar is very strong, so a bunch of flies are attracted to it, but the nectar is fermented, so it makes the flies drunk and fall in the sack, and they can’t get out, and acids dissolve them.

I got a haircut without telling Kate or Mamafer. Mondra, V-Money, Addie Baddie, and I said we weren’t going to tell them until they noticed. Mamafer instantly noticed, of course. Kate suspected after Mamafer said something.

We went to the Titanic Museum and learned a bunch about the Titanic. We each got tickets, and they were of real people on the Titanic and how old they were. At the end of the tour, we found out if they survived. Of course, V-Money, Addie Baddie, Kate, and my people all survived, but the mothers’ people did not. Fun Fact, the last stop of the Titanic was Cobh, but they couldn’t dock at the pier because the boat was too large. So people had to get on little boats and go to the Titanic, which was anchored nearby.

Then we had lunch at Cafe Vega. I got breaded chicken and chips (French fries). The chicken was very delicious. It reminded me of the chicken that Mondra makes me. After we ate, we sat in the square next to a statue commemorating people who died in the Second World War from a U-boat torpedo. A man was playing music, and we listened to him for a little while. The music was very Irish.

Eventually, we went back to the Airbnb, wrote postcards, and packed our bags for the trip home. We had dinner at the local hotel in Blarney. I had cheesy pasta with chicken and garlic bread. Then, for dessert, I had a chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream. It was super creamy and delicious. And I also got hot chocolate. The day was Little-E (Evan) approved!

What a great last day in Ireland. I remember that your Uncle Colin wrote the required journals on our travels in the RV, he could really focus on the food. I enjoyed hearing about Coby and seeing your mom’s wonderful pictures.
