We conquered Weir Hill! (again)

The temperature was in the high 50’s, and while many people were doing Black Friday shopping (my wife and sister included), my brother and I took Addie and our niece Bria and nephew Eoin on a hike up Weir Hill. This was Eoin and Bria’s first hike, so I was curious to see how they would make out. Eoin, who is four, trooped it out and walked the entire hike, while Bria, who is two, spent a lot of time on her uncle Ronnie’s shoulders. Addie, as usual, was in her backpack.

We started out by taking the Stevens Trail up to the scenic vista, then looped around the entire hill via the Alewife, Cochichewick, and Edgewood Farm trails. (Check out the Weir-Hill-Trail-Map.) The entire route was just under 2 miles, and allowing for resting time for Eoin’s little legs, and his slower pacing, we took about 2 hours total.

I taught Eoin how to read the trail blazes, and he counted 54 yellow dots along the Cochichewick trail. He got so excited every time we found another marker! Bria loved playing with all the dogs that crossed our path.

I would definitely recommend this hike for little ones – everyone had a great time, and it was easy enough that no one was grumpy or too tired to keep going.
