Arches National Park
After breakfast at the hotel, we headed to Arches National Park! We spent the morning doing short, easy hikes to various natural sandstone arches.Yet again, the scenery was gorgeous! There are over 2,000 arches in the park, spread out among amazing rock formations and desert landscape.
Of course, after 3 hours of hiking, even easy hikes seem tiring. By the time we finished our hike to Double Arch, we were ready for a break from the scorching sun. The weather was beautiful when we started the day – 80 and breezy, but by 12:30, the temperature had shot up to 98 degrees.
We headed back to Moab, and had lunch at the the Sliprock Cafe. Though it looked cute from the outside, the inside was depressing, with high concrete walls painted white. The food was decent, and the waiter was super sweet and attentive. Overall, it was an okay place to eat, but not one I would go back to…
After filling up on food, we checked into the hotel and all three of us took a nap. Addie and I were particularly exhausted – we both slept for over two hours! When we finally got up, we decided to take a swim in the hotel pool. Addison loves splashing and clapping in the water, and it was relaxing for Kendra and me to float around for a bit.
Dinner was at the Moab Brewery which was surprisingly awesome. We started with the nachos. Piled high with vegetarian chili and cheese, they were served with a side of beer cheese soup for dipping. Yum! They were especially good paired with the Elephant Hill beer (Kendra) and the Moab Brewery Root Bear (me!). For dinner, I had the Asiago Garlic Ravioli, which was fantastic. Kendra had a gyro wrap, which she said was great. We topped off dinner with gelato! What was most amazing to me was that the entire meal, from drinks and appetizers, to entrees and dessert, was under $50. That would be unheard of in Boston!
Tomorrow we are off to see Super Stever in Aspen! We can’t wait 🙂
Did you find in Arches Nat’l Park Paul Bunyans Potty for Addison? She would most assuredly have been impressed.
Another batch of beautiful photos!
